LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Raymond Terrace is on the Hunter and Williams rivers. There are some local attractions that are worth a visit such as the historic Junction Inn Hotel. It is one of Australia 's classic country pubs, on the waterfront, with expansive views of the river and lush green farmland that make it a very relaxing place for a meal and to sit for an hour. William Street , Raymond Terrace is the main shopping street, follow it to the end to the river and you'll see the pub.
Twenty minutes west from Raymond Terrace (in the direction of Maitland via Hinton) is the heritage town of Morpeth with excellent shopping and cafes. The drive there is through farmland and a few little villages. It is close to the start of the expressway back to Sydney.
Nelson Bay is 40 minutes to the east where there are a lot of tourist entertainments around the marina, including dolphin and whale watch tours.
Travelling 40 minutes north on the Pacific Highway from Raymond Terrace is Tea Gardens which is a small riverside town with surf beaches, Port Stephens bay beaches, very good cafes on the river front, boating, and the national park. Tea Gardens cruises along at a relaxing pace even in peak season.
